The myth, the man, the monkey

Haven’t updated in a while. We are running the show at Centrepointe now, which means I am out at centrepointe every night with 2 exceptions. The show is going really well. The backstage work is easier to deal with that was originally feared (Victor Victoria was way more hectic in terms of crew work). The show is apparently, from an audience’s perspective, fantastic, at least by all reports I have heard. It runs to Saturday, and I recommend going, if you can still get tickets. I am crushing over one of the cast members  (well…two, but I’m not counting one), and I am trying to figure out whether she is flirting back, or being social…not always easy to tell.

Saturday was our big SCA event. That was a lot of fun, really a whole lot of fun. I committed some criminal acts to my feet, standing or running on them for far too long. I was herald in a fairly long court, and I also served at the feast. At the end of the night, I was done done done. I saw many good friends however, flirted with some of them, saw many new faces as well. I finally got to bed around 3:30 in the morning after getting home from kes_zone’s party.

Yesterday, after a matinée show at cetrepointe, I went to the general meeting at Orpheus for the next production of Guys and Dolls. Within 15 minutes, 3 different people had pointed at me, and suggested I would make a good Big Julie, one of these was the artistic director. First time I have ever met the man, and he’s typecasting me. Not that I would mind the role. It’s not a big part,  but it could still be fun, however I would still like to shoot for a juicier role. I figure Sky Masterson is the golden ring, but Benny Southstreet would be good too (on the assumption that they won’t be casting a 6′6″ man as Nathan Detroit, or Nicely Nicely Johnson, but I don’t know).

So, today, before I get to Centrepointe, I need to hit the library and look up sheet music for an audition song, possibly hit a music store downtown that sells broadway sheet music and get a  book of my own, get into the gym, tidy up some of the stuff from Saturday so that Helen doesn’t come home to a pile of rough totes just where we left them Saturday night, and get to the theatre for 6:30ish.
