The myth, the man, the monkey

weights

The most annoying part of working out at goodlife, doing their group weight training class bodypump, is when we get to the squats portion, and the instructor says that this will be the heaviest weight load we use. For me it’s not. My lower back issue mean that I need to use at best a medium weight to do the squats, and at the end, my back is what feels like it’s had a good work out, while my legs just feel warmed up. As a comparison, I use the exact same weight for my chest presses, and I use about 50% more for the clean and press track. I don’t care so much that proportionally, I am not using more than other people that are smaller than me, just that I have no way of really engaging those leg exercises until my back can keep up. It’s getting there, today, my back felt worked over, but not in any way sore, which means it’s probably strengthening, I just want to get those weights that will really challenge my quads.

At least there is the lunge track, which is a definite good workout.
