The myth, the man, the monkey

Full day

Helen, ilanikhan, green_ogre and I went out hiking today. We went up to Gatineau park, but the main road through the middle of the park is still closed off from winter, so we parked at the tourist kiosk (also closed), and just walked along the first available path. It was a paved path (bike path), with not much up and down, but it provided some nice time, listening to frogs in nearby shallow pools, seeing dogs, and fresh air. We did about 6km in all, not exactly a trailblazing hike, but certain a nice walk.

We grabbed some well earned treats at the ….. dairy dip, something like that, on Merivale. Unexpectedly, the best onion rings I have ever had….as in ever. I am not generally crazy about onion rings, but these made me want to go back. Good ice cream too….but somewhat scattered and confused service, they didn’t seem to be all there.

Wrapped up the day with watching the first half of Fellowship of the Ring curled up on the couch with Helen. It’s been a long time since we sat down to watch the LOTR films. Helen bought them all for me as they came out, and they are still some of my favourites of the dvds we own. It’ll be nice slowly going through them all again with her.
