The myth, the man, the monkey

weekend

I had a *great* weekend. Saturday, I visited CanGames for some tabletop wargames. I haven’t been to CanGames in many years, and it was a hoot to visit. Saturday evening, I picked up Helen from work, and we went to her parent’s cottage. The whole trip was a singularly enjoyable time. Helen read James Herriott stories to me most of the drive, it was like a live action audio book. At the cottage we relaxed, walked about, ate more than we should have, went for a small canoe trip, also a short paddle boat trip, tromped aroun the garden, visited dogs, played with Helen’s nephew, played Trans Europa, and on the way home, more James Herriott stories and chatting.

A slight dark spot came when Helen realized she forgot her keys at the cottage, but it was indirectly nice for me, since she stayed at Lilibet, and we played a 2 person variant of Trans Europa I invented. Helen also got to play in the garden, do some weeding (this qualifies as fun for her). With luck, her coat and keys will have arrived today by Greyhound courier, and she can get back to normal.

We had a fantastic time. I took a few dozen cotage pictures I will upload later. Now I have a 4 day work week, a date with Helen already planned, and this weekend, gaming with finitedancer and peredur down in Kingston.
