Well…having done some insurance quotes, my broker than handles my car insurance, quoted me $X while I had my M1 (exact number escapes me), and about 30% lower after I had my course, and my M2. It still worked out to quite a lot of money. dagibbs suggested that some insurance companies ballpark high, as […]

Current options are a 2000 Suzuki Katana 750cc, 74000 km, $2900. Unsure of insurance, but will probably be higher than I’d like. fuel efficiency…so so. Private sale, comes with rigid case saddle bags.
Or, a 1995 Honda Shadow 600cc, around 40000 km I think, about $3200. Advantage here, it’s a used model form a dealership, so […]

A co-worker made 2 very good points.
1) I don’t have to wait until after my course to buy a bike….I could get one now. Yes, I know, I appreciate the value of the course, and I am taking it, but I’d get to start getting used to it, take it around a parking lot kind […]

I used my bike. I drove it to the gym nearby, not a long trip, but it got me in the process of getting used to the seat. The tune-up was a splendid job. It rides like new. Brakes are firm, gears are responsive. It will take a while to get used to the bike […]

Story of my life.
Shopping for helmets at one of Ottawa’s biggest motorcyle supply stores, they have only 1 brand that makes a 3XL helmet, and the 2XL are all too tight (tried on several). One brand, one 3XL helmet in that store, and it’s $600. It’s also black, meaning it will be as hot as […]

Are you a card carrying member of a Canadian political party? Why did you decide to join that party. Why not another party that maybe had some similarities, and some differences, on the basis that surely even you don’t agree with 100% of every single bullet point of your party’s agenda.

Do you know how hard it is, after turning on all the house lights, to *not* reflexively turn them off as you leave the room.
2 showings today, including one that was rescheduled from yesterday….which they never told me about. Glad they rescheduled.

and now I am signed up for a motorcyle course with the Ottawa Safety Council, just under the 2 month mark of owning the license. Perfectly timed (I have to wait 2 months to get my M2).
